How it fits into the alarm platform: 

Connects wirelessly to the BarnTalk Gateway. With an 8’ lead on the probe and a wider temperature range than the indoor temperature sensor, this sensor iideal for monitoring external temperature, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, as well as the standard uses of the indoor temperature sensor. The outdoor temperature sensor should be placed within ~700 feet of the BarnTalk Gateway. On multi-barn sites, the temperature sensor’s range can often extend across multiple buildings depending on proximity.

You can connect up to 1 Outdoor Temp Sensor per Gateway.


Sensors should be placed within 700 ft. of the Gateway for best connection.


One Gateway can cover up to two barns or poultry houses. The Gateway should be centrally located on your site.

The sensors all have lithium-ion batteries inside of them with a 2-3 year battery life. The water meter has an 8+ year battery life.

Receive alarms via text message, phone call, or push notification from the app. All alarms can be acknowledged in the BarnTalk app by touching the “Attend to Alarm” button. You can also resolve alarms via the keypad on your phone.

Yes. If you don’t want to be alerted — including when you're washing out barns or moving out animals, you can toggle off your threshold settings or silence your Gateway's alarms altogether.

No. BarnTalk is simple enough for anyone to set up on their own. Save the money!


There is no limit to how many people you add to your CallTree. They just need to be a contact in your phone to add them in. The contacts you add will be notified in the order of the CallTree when barn conditions fall outside of the norm.
